Alli joins Coates IP with nearly two decades of trademark experience in leading in-house and law firm roles. She is business-minded, creative and practical, with deep experience in the Internet, technology, and entertainment spaces. She helps companies assess the availability of trademarks for use and registration, develop and implement complex trademark protection strategies, monitor and enforce trademark rights, and negotiate and draft trademark consent and coexistence agreements.
As a Partner in Kilpatrick Townsend’s top-ranked trademark practice, Alli built and led sophisticated portfolio management programs for two industry-leading technology companies. Her teams were among the most diverse in the trademark field, winning national client recognition. Alli also served a long-term secondment to a major Los Angeles-based film and television entertainment company, advising on fast-turn title and production clearance matters and helping bring well-known animated characters to life in mobile games and video apps. As Corporate Counsel at Amazon, Alli led an in-house team responsible for all trademark, copyright and enforcement for Amazon’s fast-growing original content business, including Amazon Studios. She regularly advised business leaders on an array of intellectual property matters, including global trademark and title risk profiles, risk mitigation for new products, scope of rights and strategy for rights acquisition, and thoughtful, customer-focused enforcement. Given this experience, Alli has a unique understanding of the many demands facing in-house counsel, and the need for trusted outside counsel to be nimble, business practical and PR-minded. Alli is an active contributor and recognized influencer in the trademark field. She has served on several INTA committees, including currently on the Famous and Well Known Marks Committee, and has won multiple awards and recognition from trademark publications. Notably, Alli is recognized as a global trademark leader in World Trademark Review’s 2021 Global Leaders, has top Gold Level ranking for trademark prosecution and strategy in the WTR 1000, and is ranked as a National IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property magazine. When not juggling trademarks and children, Alli enjoys painting, yoga, hiking, gardening, cooking and wine. |
